center bearing

hey whats up i m changing out my center bearing i have it off but another ring type came off first then the bearing now when i go to put new one on does the ring go on too is that what tightens it on ?

Are you talking about the carrier bearing on the drive shaft? It does have a shield that goes in the front and back of the bearing.

yeah the carrier bearing r those the pieces with the holes punched out this other ring fits in between those dirt covers(i think)it might be a piece that broke off the carrier bearing but it is of thicker guage steel

It is hard to grasp exactly what you are talking about. If you could get some pics that would help out a bunch more. I know when I replaced my carrier bearing it fell apart. But iirc it should only be the 2 covers plus the bearing. Now the new bearing came with 2 rings but I never used them, I think they were for pressing the new bearing on.

i found out it was the dust shield its my first truck im doing thanks
