twin I beam to dana 50 swap
I have a 2wd 83 f350 and got a parts truck that has a dana 50. can I swap it
in to my 11,000 pound gvwr duely with a 6.9 with turned up pump?how tough
is the dana 50? The one I have is a 4400 pound axle weight. the twin I beam
is 3400.The truck this is going in will be used for truck pulls, towing, way to much weight in the bed and off roading.

Don't bother with it. Go ahead and get a Dana 60 axle and put it under the front. Get one that takes the dually rims so all your rims will fit. I am assuming you have coil springs up front? If so, you might have to get the spring hangers and leaf springs also. You can use the transfer case and tranny from the parts truck.

The D50 is what would of came in your truck in 83 if it was 4wd. They are a strong axle but the way they eat up ball joints gets anoying. It will work under your truck but like the previous poster said, geta D60 and never look back. A D60 came in F350's from 86-91 w king pins and 92-97 w ball joints

trust me. your not getting 250 hp from your 6.9. Even w a turbo, pump and injectors its hard to get that. I have a 6.9, a 97 powerstroke, a 2000 powerstroke ,a 429 cobra jet, and a EFI 460. I have yet to see any carnage other than what was listed. And i have never broke any of my drive train other than a 8.8 in a lightning

Any D60 can be converted to dually with the correct hubs.
It's going to be a LOT of work getting the D50 into your truck. Your best bet is to remove the engine and swap out the crossmember or you'll never get the drop pivot holes lined up correctly and your camber will be off.
A D50 is only slighly stronger than a D44. In fact, it is the nearly the same except for the stub shafts being slightly larger and bigger knuckles and brakes. Same ring and pinion as a D44 and just as weak.
A D60 is the only way to go for what you are trying to do.

Yep, the 50 is not the same R&P as a 44, it is bigger, the only thing the same as a 44 is the spline count and size at the side gears....
As for the OP, you fail to mention a turbo.... You are not making 250hp. If you were stuffing 15+PSI into it with a built IP and a set of injectors, maybe.... Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
