63 F100 Help

Hey guys, I'm looking at picking up a 63 f100 for my next project. I was looking on here for some ideas and what people are doing with these trucks and had a couple questions. First would be about the crown vic suspension swap? Any good info on this? Also where are some good places to get parts for these trucks?

I would like to find out as much as I can before I jump into this project. Thanks for you time and hopefully I will be able to show some pic of my new project,LOL

CV works, however you are limited to the huge offset of the CV and mustang metric rims. Engine fitment for anything other than a Modular engine become a fabrication prospect to mount.

Read Thoroughly the tread in the 67 to 72 forum. the same basic principals apply.

Parts are available from FTE supporters like Carolina Classics.

Well the off set and the engine fitment reall wont be a problem. I'm sure if I can find a way to fit a flathead in a bronco II, I'm sure I can figure something out,LOL

Is there any parts that are really hard to find? Like any body parts?

Welcome to FTE

Everything is hard to find, if you don't know where to look for it.

There is next to no sheetmetal reproduced for 1961/64 trucks, no one reproduces the grilles or side trim.

1961/64: Mechanical parts for 223 or 262 I-6's, 292 V8's are tough to find.

I would guess that used rust free sheet metal in the mid-west rust belt is almost impossible to find.

About the only thing that is reproduced in quantity for 1961/64's are the weatherstrips, which also fit 1965/66's.

Personally, I'd stay away from 1961/64's and look for a 1965 or 1966. Even though the trucks look similar, they are not the same.

1965 and later have Twin-I-Beam suspension, 240/300 I-6's, the 352 V8. Swapping power brakes, steering is fairly EZ from 1973/79's.

There are a lot more reproduction parts available for 1965/66's than 1961/64's.

Little or nothing can be swapped to 1961/64's from anything after 1964.

Fenders, core support, inner aprons, and front lower stone guard, floor pans and cab mounts along with cab steps and cab corners. are reproduced for the 61 to 64s and most parts continue on with 65 66 four wheel drives.

Just as long as you are aware of the 65" track in front and stock 60" track in back with the 9" or Dana.

Flathed in a BII now there's a waste of good iron.....
