04 Escape THUMP air conditioner on

My Escape makes a frequent (every 10 seconds or so) thump when the air conditioner is running. It makes this thump sound and you can feel it like the car is struggling. Anyone know what this could be?

My guess would be the clutch kicking in. And if you have the 4cyl it could be strong enough to pull power from the engine to run it.

Is this something I should worry about? Should I get it checked out?

You're probably out of warranty so I wouldn't take it to the dealer. If you have a trustworthy mechanic I would let him check it out. Normally it's ok, but keep an ear on it and if it get's worse I would check it.

try to use the a/c on a regular basis, they say at least 10 minutes every 2 weeks minimum, even in winter months. I find they get noisy when the a/c isn't used for a while. On a 4 cyl the a/c engagement will be more pronounced and you will feel it engage and disengage at times.

NOT EGR---more than likly Bad pressure feedback sensor---common prob.---code said no egr flow, p0401 right(pull vac on egr when running and engine idle changes drasticly-working ok,if not passage way behind egr are stopped up, my money is on bad DPFE code p0401)?Also AC runs in winter time when you select defrost, I think the only time it does not run is in off or vent position.
