I don't know if it is real critical or not, but when I had my truck serviced at one of three different dealers over the last 2 months, someone busted the front part of the air box. The part that comes from the grill area to the snaps that hook to the filter box. It has a 2 X 2 inch piece broken out of it, and I don't know if I should replace it or not. Will this bring in more dirt or moisture into the filter box? It is right behind the radiator and the hole is towards the engine side. If someone has upgraded to an after market filter assembly, and would like to get rid of there old part I would be interested in it.

 

you don't have to replace it, unless you don't like looking at it....the hole is on the unfiltered side..

you could cover it with an FTE sticker...

 

I'd post my modded pics but I'm at work. Cut that snout off as far back as possible, makes swapping filters easy. Allows the truck to breathe easier and will change the exhaust sound.
