'61 F100 Brake Part Compatability

Looking for a Power Brake Booster for a 1961 F-100 RWD on a tight budget. Any one know what years would be compatable from a donor car?

None.

Car power brake boosters will not work on trucks, they mount totally different.

Does the truck have power brakes on it now?

If so...someone installed it from another year as Ford didn't offer power brakes on F100's till 1965.

Nope. No power on it at all right now. Is there a year truck that will bolt in? I am guessing, that any of the ones pulled from another year will work right?

Nope.

The 1961/64 cabs look like 1965/66's but are not the same.

Suggest you contact FTE member Garbz2 and ask him what power brake setup might work.

No booster i know of is a direct bolt on.

A good and common unit is one from a small ford ranger(no standoff) mid eighties to nineties. It is basically the same thing hot rod vendors sell as a cad plated unit.

Another good choice is the 78 truck lever type (built in standoff) booster that moves the booster and master up and away from the engine valve cover. I prefer these as it is easy to set the pedal to bar and re drill the bar with a 9/16" hole. But they are big in size compared to the smaller ranger unit. The ranger aluminum master cylinder will also work well on a disc drum app.

You will need to re drill the pattern for the stud/bolt holes and re drill the secondary internal brace.

65 up all use the same larger pattern as these boosters, but require a standoff to clear the firewall bracing.

I am currently setting up for a ranger booster and 96 Dodge aluminum master moved to the right where the hydraulic clutch stamping is. I have modified the stock 63 pedal assembly to utilize this opening and accommodate a 66 steering column.
