i was wondering if any one has had a chance to get out and do some king salmon fishing, and wondering how everyone has done...
ive been doing tribal gill netting on the skagit river, and over the past 3 thursdays, we have only caught 2 kings...(which if you dont know... 2 fish in 72 hours for us is umm pretty un-usual...) but we are thinking its because the river has been running to high?

Don't know of anything going on down here in Yakima. When they come the parking lots always have at least two trucks of people selling fish out of the back of them for a decent price. Guess its kinda slow for everyone right now.

this sucks... i dont know how the king season was last year, but i know the coho/chum/silver season sucked last year... we did pretty good but still not as good a years in the past...
i always laugh when im in the store and i see people buying "fresh" caught salmon for 12 bucks a pound... some times when i see people doing that i will give them my number and tell them to wait a week and i will sell to them for 8 bucks a pound... (fish buyers pay 6 bucks a pound on kings) and sell them silvers for 5 bucks a pound... (last year the best we got for our silvers where 2 bucks a pound...) traded 2 fillets last year cut right on the truck of my car for a brand new gerber fillet knife...this season, we didnt even catch enough to pay for gas to the river, or for the gas to run the boat, or for food...

Fresh caught salmon in the store could be at least a week old or previously frozen. Besides farm fed fish is something totally different tasting than a wild caught one. I don't trust the stores as much as i used to. I have no problem buying a fish from a native, far as i am concerned they were here first and have the right to fish like their forefathers did. I am a paleface but i have a kindered spirit towards natives cause they lived off the land for generations before we came along and took their land. Its funny though, Legends Casino is now taking back all the white man's money i find it absolutely hilarious. Been told that sometimes you can get a salmon for some cases of beer don't know if its true or not but at least the fish is fresh. Wapato and Top*****h seem to have most of the trucks when the fish come in but sometimes they will come to Yakima to sit in the parking lots. So i will just sit and wait till i can see their signs of fresh fish.

all sort of depends on the native... if its me or the uncle i fish with... i would rather have cash... if its my neabhor, give him a 5th or a case and he will gladly give you a fish or 2... but im up to barter anyways.. i know... when i hear about people talking about going to the casino, i always tell them to go to the skagit casino, and tell them i will take them out to dinner at the end of the year when the checks come out...
the white guys turned the natives into alcohalics, and the natives turned the white guys into gambeling addicts... i guess im screewed both ways.... got half of each hahahaha
