You know. :/

I try to be patient with know-it-alls but there comes a time that I just get
my fill of it. :/

I was just looking in a book last night by Tom Monroe that showed the old
5 bolt bell housing pattern compared to the "new" 6 bolt pattern for 302's
etc. It's a friggin Ford we're talking about, remember? :/

I recently did the swap also. I also bypassed my clutch interlock switch, but the only thing that doesnt work is my cruise. Does anyone know how to get around the neutral safety switch so the cruise will work? I think this is the culprit that is telling my computer that the tranny is in neutral and that is why the cruise doesnt work anymore.

I'm thinking of doing this same swap in my 1990 F250 4X4 because the E4OD has been giving me issues...will it be cheaper to do this instead of a rebuild on the E4OD? I'm not to happy with some of the price quotes I've been getting for getting that automatic rebuilt. Also, is this something an amateur can do? I'm no idiot....but I'm still a beginner.

Of course you can do it ...if you want to bad enough! :)

But IMO, I'd say you need to -want- a manual truck to do this swap.
(don't do it just for money)

T.A., you got a place where you can have a parts truck next to yours
while you swap parts? :)

ps- '91 Bronco 351w swapped to ZF from a '90 F250 >8500# parts truck.
pps- Wanted a manual Bronco, finally drove one and realized I-did-not-like
the close-ratio Mazda transmission at-all! :/
ppps- Back in late '74 I bought a '75 F150 360FE+T18 and wanted a short
updated version of my pickup that I still drive.
^...that was my motivation, see?
...a "ZF swap" was the only answer in my case.
pppps- I got lots of room, I had lots of time, and I like to tinker.
ppppps- Oh, and good threads never die! :)
