Ok , day 3 on the road and all is well. I have gotten used to the nav unit and sync. We programmed the three banks of memory buttons for the sat radio. The sync is very easy to use with the voice commands...works with me or my girlfriend. Took the Expy up some steep mountain roads today and no problems. Did almost get hit by a PU truck roaring down the mountain.<o></o>
I averaged over 20 MPG for the last two days..but we are on backroads and not pushing it. This is one quiet, comfortable vehicle.<o></o>
<o></o>
How do I attach pics? I'm going the find a car wash tomorrow!<o></o>
<o></o>
Thanks for the lovebug solution...I'll use it when we return to Fl and hit the little buggers again.

Finally a pic
Ok, I finnaly figured out how to u/l a pic to a public folder.
My little camera takes a high res pic and I needed to downsize it. Right?
Ok here is the scoop.
Got the Expy late on a Thursday (5/14), in a bad rainstorm. in S Florida. I had ordered this in Feb and because of the changeover to Ky it took awhile. The dealer was fantastic and pulled some strings to get it to me before I went on vacation on Sat 5/16. I can't say enough good about them.
We left on Saturday morning for a trip to Ga and NC ..no plans each day ..just a wanted to find State Parks for hiking. I sold my 2000 Explorer outright on Friday before we left. It was great in the Mountains of NC.
The dealer didn't have a chance to go over all the bells and whistles with me before I left ( ok by me) as I knew enough to be dangerous and wanted learn on the way. Big diff from the Explorer..much more room and a much better ride. And I ton of gadgets.
We went through rain on the way out of Florida and the Sirius Travel Link weather map radar was awesome! The Navigation and voice commands were very intuitive and easy to use. We found hotels and POI's very easily.
Everything worked flawlessly. I had ordered the Weathertech mats well in advance and they collected all the mud and Ga red dirt from our hikes. The A/C seats were great , especially for my girlfriend at times .
The ride was extremely smooth..got 20 MPG for the most part and the transmission was fine. I have never had Sirius radio and I am hooked. My Iphone connected up via Bluetooth easlily and the USB port worked great for all my music..but we were in awe of the Sirius. I have over 800 contacts in my Iphone and the sync worked well to make or receive calls.
The only thing I screwed up on was Flex Fuel.. I should have looked for it earlier as I learned way to late that it is much cheaper. I just thought that Flex Fuel meant that it could run on 15% Ethanol, I had no idea that it was 15-17% cheaper than regular. I had just filled up in S Ga for the drive home and payed $2.39.. I passed a Shell on the way back on to I-75 and they had sign for Flex Fuel for $1.99. I really like to 28 gal tank vs the 18 on the Explorer..and the MPG is better.
I am very happy.....

They believe the E-85 is much cheaper, and that you can save some $$$ by running it
quite the opposite is true...but nobody seems to believe me. It usually takes them 3-4 tanks of E-85 before they see for themselves. I suggest you give it a few tanks though. Unless the 87 vs. E-85 pricing is extreme, you will spend more money longterm on the E-85
The E-85 sucks...quite litterally it is a huge scam...but that is for another discussion
Basically, you may get 20 MPG with the 87 octane
with E-85, if you get 14/15 MPG with the exact same driving, I'd call you a very very lucky person.
my 2006 F-150 was a Flex Fuel

I personally went from 18/19 mpg on 87 octane, to about 12 mpg on E-85 with 100% highway driving. I thought there was something wrong with my truck...it took almost 3 complete tanks of REAL GAS (87 octane) before my highway MPG's went back up to the 18-20 mpg highway
I wasn't sure of the problem, so I tried it again...same exact result. Swore up and down my truck was broken...but then more and more people bought Flex Fuels, and the word got around what a crock of crap it is...somebody finally let me in on the secret

btw, if you add pictures to a photobucket account, you can resize them automatically during the upload. you pick your pictures, then an option that lets you choose the size...then hit upload
