door latches

There are some door latches on ebay at the moment. They look like they have a lock on both doors. Thought someone might be interested in checking them out.

Great find Don!

And yes they do!

Here's the direct link:

Now the springs in the interior handle portion may be shot. But if they are you can drill out the rivet to the connector at either end and use you current interior handle with the good spring.

If you need more info, let me know.

Thanks for this tip. I am in the process of rebuilding mine and the latch spring is broken so I was going to develop my own fix but this might end up beiing better if the price doesn't go too high.

cheers,

There's lots of guys looking for that drivers side latch with the door lock - so be propared for some sticker shock.

Here is a link to a thread where one member found a substitute for those springs:

Read post #7.

Also, there was a guy on e-bay selling a NOS set of springs for about $40 - yeah, for four springs.

They are not on there now so he must have sold them. But, I saved the picture for my parts library:

Hey Julies,
I didn't have a clue there was a spring for the inside handle. Completely missing with mine. i have found some possibilities at Vintage Ford and will call them tomorrow and see if they have any experience with people using them in a 49 model. Thanks for all the help. I have a price in mind for the ebay stuff and if I get out bid, so it goes. I can build a setup for very little money.
cheers,
kmule
