The term a lot of the tuners use is "Torque Modulation". You do not want to screw with the torque modulation much or at all with the Fords or it can hurt the trans. Since the switch over to throttle by wire the OE can pretty much do whatever they want because there is no physical linkage to manual control the throttlebody however with tuning the tbw can be very responsive.
