Ford Notice to owners of 250/350 Super Duty

I have experienced 2 instances of seveere vibration and front wheel shimmy, which carries over to the stering wheel and cab. Each time it was brought on by passing over a bump and or dip in the road surface. Both times it was at highway speeds of 60-75 mph and would only subside after braking and steering to the apron reducing speed down to 45-55 mph.
In April I recieved a notice from Ford Motor Co. warning of this very problem, where they recomended checking for proper tire pressure, checking for wear in the steering linkage and ball joints, and to replace the shock absorber on the steering drag link.
Anyone else who may have found a satisfactory remedy, I would appreciate your input.

Welcome to FTE! This has been widely discussed, do a search on "death wobble" and you'll find more reading than you probably care for.

The stock steering stabilizer is generally not enough on these trucks.

A dual steering stabilizer is what I would recommend. Especially if you have changed tires to a larger size or off road tread patterns.
I am using the skyjacker system but there are many others.

So that is my recommendation for the fix. But do check tire pressure and suspension components just as an important check.

I have found that proper tire pressure is the #1 cure for the death wobble, but there are other causes.

I usually advise checking tire pressure first, just because it is the least expensive.

I had proper air pressure in my 05 and still had the wobble until I installed a dual stabilizer on it. Now it's fine.

06 had factory pressure on tires. Dual Rough Country stabilizers fixed it for me.
