90' BII Electric Transfer Case Troubleshooting?
My daughter's 1990 BII has the electric transfer case engagement set-up. Usually it doesn't work at all; no lights, no sound of engagment. But "sometimes" it works fine. Light on switch comes on, light on panel shows 4WD, and you can hear the actuator engage.
Does anyone have a good understanding of the system, or a troubleshooting strategy to diagnose the problem? I have already swapped out the switch. Thanks.

One of the noted problems with the electric shift t-case is the motor. It either will go bad, get gunked up, or the wiring connections get corroded. Sometimes, it can also be a module / switch problem, but usually after the motor has issues. You may want to get under your daughter's BII and remove the motor and clean it up, re-lube what needs it, and make sure the wiring connectors are clean and making a good connection. Use dielectric grease on the connectors to prevent water and corrosion.
