Heater core probably clogged now
The nightmare continues, but this time it's at least my fault. When I had the coolant leak I put Bars Leaks into the rad to try to stop it. I thought that might be a bad idea and it was so let me put this in bold caps red-
NEVER EVER USE BARS LEAKS
So everything was fine but I had really, really, really nasty coolant. I drained, flushed, added cleaner, ran it for about a week, then drained and refilled. Now the heat doesn't work and I can only imagine that it's clogged with crap. If you really rev it up though, it blows a little heat so maybe it only partially clogged. So I'm going to try to back flush it. Anyone have any ideas besides just puting a garden hose into the out hose and letting it flow out the in?

i have used Bars several times over the past 30 years. No problems. Did you use the black oily pellets? that makes the antifreeze dirty, i dont like that. i still prefer the aluminum flakes in the small plastic tube just like the old days. I have also used the "block and cracked head" sealer. you have to drain out the antifreeze and use it with clean water. run 30 minutes, then drain. that stuff works real good on big leaks.
