Talking Y-Block Help Needed!!

Hello i am new here to these forums and i need some help on a couple of things on my new f-250!

So about five years ago my dad gave me a 65 f250 with a 352 and a four speed. I had a blast in that old truck and then one day i lost my job and i had to sell....I HATED MYSELF FOR IT!!!!!

So one day on craigslist i found this guy who had a 64 f250 that looks to be all original (292 with a 4 barrel, 4 speed stick, 2WD) for $300 i bought it the next day and now the new adventure begins!!!

The truck actually drove home!! (luckily it was only 5 miles) So now i need to find out my best route to having a nice lowered cruiser.

My original plans were to drop in a 351w with a T5 transmission but this was until i heard a modified 292 on youtube.

so now i want to modify my bellhousing for a T5, find a 9 inch rear with Disks, A Front suspension swap to TCI IFS Mustang II w/Disks, and here are finally my last problems

1. Whats the best route to go with on the 292 engine (needs total rebuild no matter what!!) i was thinking A 338 kit for it? and i need to identify the intake the only thing i found was firing pattern 15486372 stamped on front.

2. there was a person on the forum who had a INSANE! dropped 64 ( I believe) that had airbags and had the frame set up like a four link. i was wondering how he did it?

Thanks for your time!

ps: ill try to post some pics

The 338 kit will definitely be a good upgrade. Will you be doing a lot of the work yourself? As the 338 kit is not a drop in, you can save a good bit of money by doing much of the work yourself.
The manifold is probably an ECZ-9425-B manifold. It is an excellent manifold. Does it look kinda like this?

The only thing better at this time is the one made by Blue Thunder. But, another will be available soon!

The 4V manifold he has now is prolly from a 1957 passenger car or T-Bird.

1956 and earlier 4V manifolds use the teapot carb. The bolt pattern is not the same.

All the 292 equipped F100/350's only came with 2V's.

Hate to be a dummy, but what is a 338 "kit"? I know the 338 version of the Y-Block was used in trucks. Is there such a kit available or is the OP talking about using a 338 engine instead of him 292?

Thanks! I found a kit on John Mummert's site. Pricy @ $2400. Another upgrade that will have to wait :-)
