My 292 has a 3/8-16 thread. I think I'm using a 1" under head length bolt.

I have a 239 head I can check out. I think it's the same. Have you any bolts laying around with which you can check the thread size.

The rams horns will need different length bolts. So be sure to check that.
I'm using headers so the shorter bolts work fine.

I'm using grade 8 studs with my new Rams Horns.

Like these:

The following size will allow for a washer and gasket thickness

I used #9686 for the exhaust manifold studs. [they're 2" long over all]

#9683 is for the fuel pump mounting.

The following company has every kind of fastener you can imagine. Auveco Products - Automotive, Industrial and Specialty Fasteners

The following is the page where you can find the bolts above. http://auveco.com/download/pdf/40.pdf

Cheers,

Rick

I used studs and brass nuts on the DS Rams Horn, the one that had its flange milled on a 6 degree angle. Very convenient.

Yeah I think it's going to work pretty nicely.

DS Rams Horn
Which rams are they?

Are they the same as the ones that Mummert is selling?

Rick,

One is a 62-64 model, and the other is an earlier casting, ECY I think. Both are identical, just different casting numbers.

Just curious. Did you find the 'horns locally? I got mine at a scrap yard in the middle of nowhere, eastern OR, about 10 years ago. I was running ostriches way out to Lakeview for slaughter and stopped to inquire on the return trip. The $125 price was OK, as they were going for $200 on ebay then. Good thing the old timer accepted mastercard.

Ostriches are good! They taste like steak, but leaner.
