Anybody know of a way to disable the annoying chime tha sounds when a door is open and the key is still in the ignition? It would be nice to play the audiophile w/ the doors open. I checked the manual and couldn't find anything on that particular chime. Thanks

 

I use a stiff piece of metal bent into a "lazy z" shape attached to the door jamb above the light/chime switch.
when I want to leave the door open and the key in, just reach in and twist the metal over the top of the switch to hold it in the off position.

I did a search on how to disable the door chime and didn't get any good results for an 08 F-150. There was info on how to disable the seatbelt chime--

The warning chimes are from the Generic Electronic Module (GEM). I believe that there is a way to disable the seat belt warning chime in the shop manual. The key warning chime also has a switch located on the lock cylinder. The factory shop manual also shows how to remove this switch from the lock cylinder. I don't know if this switch has to be in place to start the vehicle or not. I haven't tried it. If you try it out, let us know how it works for sure. Disabling the seatbelt chime will not effect whether the vehicle runs or not. I have a Taurus manual here at home now. But I think the F-150 manual will be similar or the same. In the Taurus manual it's in 413-09 Warning Devices section.
