Help! Newb questions...

Hello all. Got an 84 Ranger sitting in the driveway, looking to add to my collection with an 87 F150 that got traded in at work over the weekend. (I work at a dealership)

4wd, 302, auto trans, dual tanks, in decent enough shape, paints still shiny but the bumpers are both bent up, and a few dents here and there. 245k miles on the ticker. Practically NO rust, I was very surprised when I took a peak under neath to see what, if anything, might be falling off.

Here's what I need to know. I'm searching around the forums here and a lot of what I see is starting problem this starting problem that. So are there some kind of issues with the injection/ignition systems on these trucks that like to rear their ugly heads all the time or are some people just unlucky?

Hopefully this is not the same type that was in my ranger, because that system did nothing but **** me off. I got tired of it running like *** and pulled the whole thing and swapped it with an older style system and it has yet to fail me since then.

Also what other common issues do you guys run up against with these? I'm probably gonna end up getting the thing if I can get a good deal on it, so I'd like to be prepared for what it might throw at me.

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks

There's a multitude of things that can cause starting issues-that's why there's many posts on that subject. The FI system has many more parts to it, that can fail over time.
Pretty much the same on all vehicles now.
