1977 F250 newer Super Duty rim interchange

This is a good story. My dad's '77 F250, which he bought new, has been rotting in his driveway for the last 10 years because it sprang an oil leak on the intake and ruined the clutch. A good friend and I decided to rescue the truck and have replaced the clutch and put the engine back in. Things are coming together and I'm a few more little projects from getting it back on the road. Anyway the tires are shot from sitting empty and sun rotting. I have access to a fairly decent set of BFG ATs but they're on a set of newer (not sure what year) Super Duty 3/4 ton rims. The current rims are 16s and the new ones are 16.5s so I can't swap the tires. Will the newer rims fit the truck without having to jury rig them?

Nope... new ones are metric measurements??? 170mm or something lie that and hub eccentric instead of being lug eccentric, there are 16" rims that will fit your truck just not from the super duty 97 and up style. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

thats supposed to be hub and lug centric. as in what centers the wheel. but ya, lost is right. they wont fit. it isn't even really worth buying a set of 16.5s for your truck unless you can get them extremely cheap because the 16.5 is going the way of the dinosaur. you can get them, but the pickings are getting slim.

Search is your friend. I have a 78 F250 and had similar questions. I ended up having a happy ending. Link: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...235-85r16.html

agreed on passing on the 16.5's, but the lug pattern CAN be fixed if you find the wheels you like for the "right" price off a newer truck. It's been covered LOTS of times. A search should come up with quite a few threads
