400Hp for the PMR. The switch happened during the '01 model year. Not sure if it was at a specific time or not, so make sure you know what you're getting if you are ever looking at an '01 (they also changed the front axle from a D50 to a D60).

You'll be fine, just make sure you get a set of gauges as well. I didn't see them listed.

I'm sure more guys with experience and Hp mods can give you more info, but your list sounds reasonable...for the internals. With all the extra fuel you need to make sure your support systems can provide for it as well...fuel pump and HPOP are the two that come to mind. Also, with that kind of power you need to make sure you are monitoring the essentials...EGT, tranny and boost...with a good set of gages.

I don't know if you've had any issues with your 4R100, but depending on the tunes you get from DP and how much lead is in your foot, you might want to keep a rebuild in the back of your mind.

Just my .02

As long as you get gauges, you should be golden.

This is not entirely true.. I have a motor out of a 2000. It has PMR rods!

There was a batch of "test" motors during the 2000 model year that had PMR's..

Thats strange. I have a '01 with forged rods. I looked in the inspection hole to be sure. I do have forged rods. You are the first that I have seen with those rods in the '00.

And be careful even with the forged rods. We've seen a rash of the them letting go in the low 400s, even less!

Where is the inspection port to look into to check for forged or PMR?

Its on the drivers side, just above the oil filter housing. It is a 5/16 square plug. I used a piece of square stock 5/16 in a 3/8" 12 point socket to take the plug out. I also used a magnifying mirror to look in the hole to see the nuts on the rods. I also had to bump the starter 5 times to get the rod in the right position to see the nut on the rod. If you see a bolt, you have PMRs.

Yes thats why I prefer people to actually do an inspection and not just assume they have forged rods. That could be an expensive mistake.

I will find the article about PMR's, but I know of 1 other guy with a 2000 that has PMR's..

If i,m not mistaken, Whitebuffalo Rich posted some info the years including test's between those years for PMR and forged rods, great writeup it was. Example 1# thru 10,000 forged rods. 10,000 thru 29,000 PMR test 29,000 thru 150,000 PMR and so on..
