Tooning.

The build quality control at the foundry and shop where they are made is not shotty enough that some can go 650+hp on the same rods that can go at 425 (or less)hp. Call me crazy.

Another way to tell is to look at the tag on the valve cover, and look at the engine serial number.

Start of production thru 1425746 are Forged Rods (this is in 2000)

1425747 thru 1440712 are Powdered Rods (Mid-year 2000)

1446713 thru 1498318 are Forged Rods (these were in 2000 and some 2001's)

1498319 thru final production run are all powdered (2001-up)

of course the only way to be 100% sure is to look through the inspection hole.

My 2000 model yr engine fell in the mid-yr 2000 range.

I thought they changed the front end in 03'?

Could this be because of the DRW? I really need to check mine out soon to see.

I don't think so. My build date is 8/19/2000. I bought the first '01 that the dealer got in.

Yea, I'm figuring I have PMR, but may as well check to be sure. They did keep things a little heavier duty for the DRW, can only hope.

The door panel sticker says 02/01, too late for forged rods and too early to avoid the trans diode i think.
