Sorry for the delay. Been in Little Rock for a couple days. Thanks for all the welcomes. I've been lurking and posting and finally figured out how to join and make it official. Based on prior responses, I guess I'm into Old Skool trucks, lol. I have a 66 you guys have seen in other posts. Been having a great time fixing it up, busting my knuckles, and going broke! Welcome to the club!! I am also an "Old Skooler" when it comes to trucks, as I have a '58 F100 that I am slowly working to restore parts of! I don't have a full fledged shop to work w/, so until I do get that I am just trying to do bits and pieces that I can w/ what space I have to work w/? Your "heart transplant" sounds like a serious one! Nothing says hard core Ford performance more than a Cleveland series engine (Boss 302/351 and 351C)! I am sticking to tradition w/ mine. I am keeping the 292 Y-Block engine in it and working on making it perform as much as I can. I know it will never be able to keep up most folks "serious" engines, but I have enjoyed the challenge of making work. Glad to have you aboard and I hope you don't mind me picking your brain for any good pointers!

 

Pick away anytime brendan. I'm far from an expert though. I can usually take something apart and put it back together. Not sure the 351C is serious power, but it will be better than my straight 6 300. The 292 can be hopped up from what I've seen posted. My knowledge lies in the later year models. I've owned a 70,69,2X64,65,66,91. I went to the darkside in 2007 due to price, but will give Ford another chance when we decide to buy the wife another vehicle.

Anyone needing a good running 300 and 3 speed manual, drop me a line. Was supposedly rebuilt at one time as all the stories go, lol. A glove box full of receipts came with the truck but I can't remember a engine receipt.

Well there are some corners cut here and there, but I'm not telling which ones, lol. Thanks for the compliments. When I started telling myself you can always take it apart and fix it later, I replied ya right. Yes I talk to myself! I figured I better do it now or it won't get done. Paint and body work will have to be done later for financial reasons. I have one major purchase coming up that I don't want to put off. Plan to get an Ididit steering column. Later this year I will likely pull the stock guage cluster and pop in a 65 dash with dakota digital cluster. Theres no rush on that though since I absolutely hate wiring.

 

Cutting corners does not constitute a lack of attention to detail....just means you need to save a buck here and there. Nothing at all wrong with that....assuming you are not compromising the safety of the vehicle, which I seriously doubt looking at the thing.

 

No I definately do not cut those corners. Everything in the brake system is new except the proportioning valve which can be easily replaced if I find its not doing its job. All of the suspension and drive line components are new or redone. Biggest danger is definately on the drivers side floor board, located on the far right, lol.
