33"? On a 2WD? Are you compensating for something?

if you dont have to much invested in your truck now, i would personally sell the thing and get a 4wd

You asked, "Can I do _______ cheaply on a 30 year old pickup truck?"

The answer:

No.

Wise words for all: if you're strapped for cash, find a new hobby. I know too many people that sacrifice car insurance for a billet grille!

i dont mean sacraficing insurance for a billet grill, what i mean is a way to lift a 73-79 2wd for under 200 bucks with out using coil spring spacers

the cheapest way to lift it would be to overinflate the tires with air.

What about a Body lift? It would be cheaper than the suspension lift. I know a lot of people don't care for body lifts, but since it's a two wheel drive anyway you are going to be doing any serious wheeling to shear off the longer bolts. Just my .02
http://roughcountry.com/body_lift_kits-ford.html

EDIT: After posting that link I see it says it won't fit a 2wd with the steering gear box behind the front axle. But anyway maybe someone makes one for a 2wd.

If not the maybe you could modify the steering column to gear box connection with some shaft and steering universal joints.

Body lifts use spacer(blocks) which he doesnt want to use.

i was thinking body lift but the steering issue is what gets me. what about taking the steering knuckle from a 4wd gear box and putting it in place of the rag joint. body spacers are ok. i just dont want to add any spring spacers,

not in the suspension. i just got done rebuilding the entire suspension on the truck about 1 month ago. i figured if i put 460 springs under my 300 inline 6 it would raise the front end up a little but it didnt do it
