I would just get a new front cover, I would say go ahead with it but it a weird looking hole meaning prob not stock. To be safe just replace it or tig weld a filler piece in, I wouldn't trust jb weld on that.

 

i would replace the cover. even though that is a "dry cavity" at the bottom there probably is a small opening that drains out this cavity. you will constently be getting anti-freeze leaking out all the time.

you can try welding it up, but for the cost getting another one from the wreckers is a better idea.

its a pretty common problem with Fords and the front covers wearing out in spots due to corrosion and wear.

Go to Oreilly Auto and get a new one they dont cost much or thats what i did !!!

 

don't worry about it theres a plate that go's behind the water pump that keeps any water from getting in there.
