6.0 and the Fiero

I was reading an article about GM and it mentioned the Fiero(which I haven't thought about in a long time, my sister had one when she was in High School in the 80s, but got rid of it due to "issues") and they have quite a bit in common. Both started out with bad reputations(although for different reasons) and by the time they actually started to get towards their potential they get the axe. Now it's left to a few of us wacko 6.0 enthusiasts that refuse to let the ole girl go down without a fight to bring her to true glory, much like what people do to the Fiero even today.

I just thought it was kinda interestings.

I have thought the same thing. But, the 6.0 is NOT dead and seems to be moving up. Correct me if I am wrong. Ford still uses it in the E vans?
I just read that new ford trucks with the 6.0 and plating are being shipped to Iraq and other places. That Navistar won a military contract for 30k motors.

May all be rumors. But I read that some where.

If they do still use them in the e-series (which doesn't suprise me, the 6.4 is a big motor) they won't be for long since it doesn't meet the new emissions requirements

I thought Navistar was able to get the 6.0(or whatever their equilivant is) to meet the new emissions with computer tweaking? Of course, it helps that they actually have their vehicle de-tuned as well I would imagine.

Hadn't looked into it. I'll google it when I get home. The e series 6.0 is allready detuned hp wise to around 210, about the same as the vt365 but the torque numbers aren't even close. I believe 2010 requires a dpf and that stupid new fuel deal can't remember the name.

The e-series still runs the 6.0L. It will be axed in '10 because it cant meet emissions standards. It has been stated that there will be no more E series diesels after this.

Their more then rumors many offical secruity units use the newer 6.0 fords in iraq and afganistan and some special forces as well... And since the newer powerstroke came out in New Mexico 6.0 sales have gone up my town used to be a dodge city but their is alot more fords runnin around now. As far as rumors goes tho i was talking to a sales guy at ford and not very soon but in time the only diesels sold will be F-450 nothing smaller??

That doesn't make much sense since Ford is putting a diesel in the half ton's also an F-450 is basically a F-350 and F-550's+ don't use powerstrokes/ford motors

Actually, a 450 is not like a 350 (the differences are not readily visible however), and a 550 is different again, and they do use power stokes in the 550's.
Its the 650's that do not use the PS.

true but in the F650's you get a few options and i believe the standard (lowest end) is a powerstroke and the other options are cummins and cat

You've got me on that one, I've never seen or heard of a 650 with the PS but of course that doesn't mean they are'nt out there.

Yup, ours, too. The new F-550 that we're spec'ing out has one in it. Of course, this will all be moot once the Navistar contract ends.
