I layed into the throttle on my Expy today and it really surprised me...especially for a 6,500 lb beast (roughly). Had no problems going from 0-60 and merging onto the highway

the 6-speed is really nice once you are rolling
Sounds like your Expy needs that reflash that was brought up on the Expedition forum. My truck's downshifts don't seem nearly as rough as what you are describing, and my truck is supposed to do it.

The truck should get up and go as good as the Expy, maybe a little better due to a slight weight advantage and 10 additional hp . Mine does noticeably better than my parents' '08 Expy, but I always attributed that to the fact that their Expy has the 3.31 gears. Anyhow, I think you would still feel like you had taken a big step back in the power department since you have a supercharger. Now, if you could put a supercharger on an '09 ......that might be a different story.

Still does not make sense that it eventually goes away.

If it does, it would have to be something mechanically wearing in. Cannot buy the “learning” thing. This isn’t the “matrix” where machines become intelligent and Neo is "the one" to save thay day. The transmission is programmed a certain way. How or why would it be programmed to do this?

I thought the PCM made adjustments based on your driving habits, and they had been designed like this for years?

It does and it also adjusts based on load.

It sure does. It's in the manual also.

like I mentioned the tranny is deliberately programmed to shifter stiffer when it is cold out. so you may see some of the rough shifts come back this winter.

yeah, my Expy has the 3.73 setup

you can supercharge an 09. Talk to Roush. a few weeks back on their site they were saying the Rouscharger for the 04-08 models will work on the 09's if you buy the accessory kit

Okay- so two separate issues we're talking about here: 1. rough 1-2 shift and 2. sloppy/"loose" 2-1 shift ex. coming upon a stop sign, etc.?

I have #2. And from what I have read it will not go away but is programmed that way?

What does the reflash of the PCM do for the 1-2 shift that many have talked about?
