Fan Shroud, Where to buy?

I need a new fan shroud for the truck, 460 conversion. I've purchase one before from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard and it was constructed from blow molded plastic. It was okay and did the job. But some of the stock Ford fan shrouds that I've come across were made of fiberglass.

Does Dennis Carpenter or anyone else make them from fiberglass?

Or were only a few select Ford fan shrouds fiberglass?

I'd like to have one that's a little stronger than the plastic ones. Not to mention a $100 piece of plastic is rather expensive.

I've looked at the local yards but I haven't been able to source one there for a 460. Living in Phoenix fan shrouds tend to get swiped quickly too.

Does any know if any parts vendors sell fiberglass fan shrouds or are they all made of plastic?

National Parts Depot has them for $100 (http://npd.dirxion.com/Main.asp) don't know if they are plastic or fiberglass but it dos say it is original ford tooling .
Have you thought about going to a electric fan. I do believe the crown vic and mark VI fans are pretty much a bolt on deal. Then you can get rid of that fan and get a little more power out of her. and around me you can pick one up for under 100 if you pull it. that's just my $.02.

There are TWO different 460 fan shrouds...it depends on which radiator you have.

The fan shrouds are NOT interchangeable, as the type for the Standard Cooling radiator (used 1973/74 ONLY) has different dimensions.

All the Genuine Ford shrouds are marked on the upper drivers side corner with an ID number, which is molded into the fibreglass.

D3TZ8146C .. Fan Shroud / Marked: C8TA-S or D3TA-DA / 460: Use with Standard Cooling radiator 1973/74 only / STILL available from Ford.

This same shroud was also used on 1968/76 F100/350's w/360/390's with the Standard, Xtra & A/C radiators, but not with the Super Cooling radiator.

MSRP: $93.30 // FTEpartsguy.com price: $67.18 / FTE sponsor: FTE Parts Guy: Ed Olson @ PARR FORD in Bremerton WA.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D3TZ8146D .. Fan Shroud / Marked: D4TA-CA, or CB / Use with Xtra, A/C & Super Cooling radiators 1973/74, and all radiators 1975/79. / Obsolete

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has ONE: 800-543-4959.

No Ford Dealer, or other obsolete parts vendor has any.

NOTE: Since the D3TZ8146C fan shroud is STILL available from Ford, and fits many years/models...guess where all the aftermarket suppliers are buying it from?

A local Ford dealer is the answer.

Everywhere I look I can't find one for my 77 F150 300 I6, I think Dennis Carpenter said coming soon, but that never changes. I have none right now and would like to add one. I guess the good thing is it's not at the top of my list at the moment.

How do you know this is the correct shroud, since you did an engine swap?

Which radiator do you have now?

If it's an original genuine Ford radiator, it is marked with an ID number, either on the top tank, or on one of the side mounting brackets.

If you find an ID number...post it...I'll tell you which radiator you have, and the correct shroud you need.

Broken as in the shroud itself is cracked?

BTW: I was the person who bought the LAST 460 w/ Super Cooling shroud almost two years ago.

Yep, cracked in two. That's what he said. It's still for sale. I'm just trying to weigh my options before I buy something.

LAST 460 w/ Super Cooling shroud? - you mean an actual Ford part?!

Yech. How much? I know Green Sales are expensive. If it's cheap enough, you can stitch it up with 18 ga wire like I did on one of my old trucks.

Yes, a factory Ford NOS shroud.
