Does any one know where i can get the spindle nut socket for the dana 50 front end with automatic locking hubs? It is not the one with four holes, it is a 12-sided nut and according to the book it is slightly less than 2 3/4" I can't find it anywhere?
I couldn't either. I used a small flat tip punch and lightly tapped it loose. Then I used a pointed circuit tester or a super small and long rod will work. Spin it off.
To reapply I did the reverse and tightened it down till the rotor slowed from spinning. Then backed it off just a touch.
The nut has alot of small holes in it all the way around. That is why the circuit tester worked so well.
Yeah that's what i did too, except I made a 'tool' with two metal rods, but I'd like to have to actual tool, so i could torque it down to specs. i'd feel alot more comfortable about driving it around that way.
