stacking leveling kit with lift kit?

Wondering if anyone has ever used a 2" leveling kit with a 6" lift before to gain a total of 8 inches of lift or if anyone can fore see any problems with this setup. Why would anyone want to do such a thing you might be asking? Well I lifted my truck (2008 F350 4x4) with a procomp 6" suspension lift and ever since I put it on I wished I would have went with an 8".

Well I would definitely swap in some taller blocks in the rear... but thats an easy fix... just concerned about the front steering/suspension working properly...

It would probably work, but I wouldn't do it. Anything over 6" isn't practical to me, better off doing cutout flares if you want larger tires at that point.

Don't think anyone makes cut outs for the 08 yet.

Didn't notice it was an '08, but heck you can fit at least 38s on an '08 with a 6" lift.

I have no idea how much this would cost, but you could get 5" of lift without any suspension mods and still use the leveling kit. The linked post is about portal axle ends from AxleTech International Motorsports. I think you would need to go with about 10" taller tires to get back near your original gearing since they give you 1.5:1 reduction. Wheel well opening size may be an issue but it sure would look neat...

If you wanted to go higher I don't see why you couldn't go with a 2-3" lift(or more) and the portal ends, or add them to your 6" lift and have a total of 11" of added height. Step stool optional.....

Unless I'm mistaken, a leveling kit only raises the front end anyhow to compensate for the nose down stance of the Super Duty.

I have a Buddie that has an 03 f250 with 8" bds lift kit, he wanted to go taller so he bought a shackle lift and "stacked the lifts" it works fine for him.

With your 08 be very, very careful to make sure that you get caster back to an acceptable positive setting. Taking a 6" and going to 8" with it gives you more negative caster.
Of course with an 8" you'd ideally want to run more positive caster than stock anyway.

I was told about that when I installed the 6", how can you tell if you don't have enough positive caster? I never really noticed any difference between stock and the 6", actually I think the it handled better with the lift.

Putting it on the alignment rack is the best way to know where your caster is at.

Stretching a 6" to a 8" I'd guess that you'd be around 0* to +1* of caster if you are lucky.

Personally I think even the stock caster setting from the factory is too low.....so I increased mine.

Ideally with an 8" you'd want to have at least +3.5* of caster, IMO.

Many people may say it's not a good idea, the truth is if you have a stock height suspension truck you can safely level it up to 3" with out any other modifications. When you install a lift kit on a truck the kit is designed to lower your suspension and give you the height of what the kit is made for and making the geometry of the suspension back to stock condition. So I highly disagree that you should not stack a leveling kit on a lift kit.

Out of curiosity, where did you come up with that magic safe number of 3 inches? I ask, because you loose about a degree of caster for every inch you raise the truck. Theses truck are already on the verge of not having enough caster in stock form. I installed the ready lift 3.5" sst kit, which comes with drop radius arm brackets. I installed 2.5 degree caster bushings on top of that to help with the tracking of wide tires. The truck drives like a dream now.

You can buy a second truck for what those cost.

Thank you for telling us your opinion on something that's nine years old. In the future try to stay at least within the current decade of topics.
