I need some help with a 1950 f-1 rear axle. I looked at the page that id's the axles. Its says that a spicer 41 came in the truck. Does it have a back cover or does the assy pull out fom the front like the 9 inch. The pig in this truck pulls out from the front. The bottom 2 bolts are covered by the pinon.According to the Ford 9 inch page this should be a 9 inch rear end. It also has 2 dimples on the back housing. There is a tag that says 3.70. I would appriciate any info on this rear axle. I'm looking to get a 9 inch for the truck, but don't want to buy one if I don't have to.

Sounds to me like some PO has already installed a 9" for you.

I received the truck from my uncle who got the truck from my grandpa. He did change the engine but I don't know about the rear end. I can't ask him because he passed away.

 

dana spicers had a 41 or 44 cast in the lower right rear.
