Cooled seats

At which trim level is this an option, does anybody have them, and do they really work worth a darn?

They are available in the Lariat and Plat trims only and only with the captains chairs.

Which is crap, since the captains chairs are the SAME EXACT THING as you find in the 40/20/40. Ford should have been smart and added this an as option for XLT and up, since the meat of their line is XLT.

They are incredible on a hot day. There is a fan in the seat that actually blows cool air through the perforations in the leather on the bottom (butt area) and back of the seat. I drove a 2001 Navigator once that had cooled seats, and these new ones are much improved over those.

not necessarily, what trim level are you talking about?

you have to step up to at least the FX4 if you want the console shifter (with captains chairs), but it doesn't come cooled seats.

Cooled seats (captains chairs) only come with Lariat and Platinum (as mentioned above), and also the King Ranch which wasn't mentioned yet. well, the Platinum and King Ranch are basically just option packages associated with the Lariat anyways.

my fx4 doesnt have cooled or heated seat. i could have got the heated but cooled is only on the lariats and plats like said above. i had heated seats in my 05 and it was really nice, wish my 09 had them, but with summer time coming up they wont be needed.

I have a loaded FX4 and was told no cooled seat option was available for this model (but do have the heat). OK though, since I installed a sheepskin cover anyways for comfort and protection.

I have the cooled seats in my Lariat and love them. I just wish that the locker form the FX4 was available on the Lariat.

I have a Lariat with the cooled seats, down in Houston at that. I have only had it for a little over a month and has not been up to 100°F yet. I have turned them on but they really seem to cool the butt more than the back and I really wish it would move a little more air. I turned it on on someone that did not know it and said it kinda felt like they peed their pants, just that cool feeling in the crotch.

I guess I will see more as time goes how helpful of a feature it is, so far not too impressed.

^yeah, you just had to get the captain's chair package in order to get cooled seats on the Lariat.

I used the cooled seats today in my Platinum for the first extended period of time. as mentioned above, I noticed more cooling in the butt area rather than the back.
