Have you contacted any of the military support personnel on base? There is a segment that is suppose to protect servicemen from unscrupulous civilian business owners. They can place the dealer OFF LIMITS. They were in the Base Commanders Office when I was in the service. Just the threat of that happening can pressure the dealer into correcting things. I wonder if the dealer is just waiting for you to rotate back to the mainland?

visited a Lawyer on Friday...got me some legal mumbo jumbo getting mailed out to various people and entities
today they are supposed to finish compiling the body shop estimates and the estimates to fix the other stuff they screwed up during the 22 days it was hostage.
supposedly I'll get a call today with the final resolution. It's 9:30...so I'm going to give them until 12:00 until I call them. Should be plenty of time to get their ducks in a line
wow, I'm sorry for ya Tylus. That just really blows.
I know exactly what you are going through and I hope it all works out for you in the end. My dads 02 F-150 had the same problems that your appears to be having. In the end he could not take it anymore and traded it.
Just keep riding there ass all the way to the end.

This is a perfect example of why business fail or do poorly. No one is concerned with the customer. If you own a business and take care of your customers, the price you charge becomes inconsequential for the most part. I would personally pay more for a service or company that I felt had my best interests in heart. I would also be loyal and tell everyone I knew to use them or their products.

The actual manager below the Owner called me about 10:30 my time
Said they were still working quotes from several different shops, and they hadn't forgotten about me
Then he asked me something kinda ominous. Wanted to know if I would be willing to accept a Buy-Back
Normally I'd say yes and go somewhere else immediately
but...I'm on a damn Island, and quite litterally, there is only 1 2009 Expy for sale, and 1 2008 new for sale. The 09 is a Limited regular length for $49,000 and the 08 is a XLT for $32,000.
Both Expy's are at different dealerships. And neither are EL's.
So I've been looking at the Suburban and Yukon XL...but they must be made of gold. Still priced at $45,000 for the stripped versions, and about $57,000 for the Chevy equivalent of what I got right now.
btw, still waiting for a resolution. It is 1:50 my time right now. I'm going to call them about 3:00 and see what is up
I ain't got the money to play games, and Ford says it can hold 7 passengers. I've found a Limited Flex out here for $37,000 that is loaded with the goodies.
I just don't know how it will work for 3 kids. 2 in carseats, 1 in a booster...and the twin stroller as well. Have a feeling I'll be test driving stuff tonight/tomorrow
I would say the Flex is too small IMO. I have two kids and with activities surfboards, their scooters, bikes, etc. the expy is it's just right. Could you do the buy back and wait a while to get another expy that you go through with a fine tooth comb? Yukons are not bad either, but no fold flat third row is a deal killer for me.

ive only sat in one at a dealership. As a 6ft XXL guy it was to small for me, i didnt ride in it i wore it. If you were to get one get the fresh of the boat ecoboost flex if its out yet. The edge isnt bad either. But the Lincoln edge has a much nicer interior. Personally i would stick with the expedition if i were you. Maybe a new 09 f150 and put a topper of some kind on the bed?

I suggested a buyback earlier and if they're willing, I'd do it.
Why not look at a lower end Flex so you don't take as much of a bath if you decide to dump it.
Depending on who you listen to, gas may go up crazy in price. I don't want to think about this, but the value of used full size SUV's would not do well. Of course, I've owned a full size passenger van continuously since 1986, and am so spoiled it would be hard to go without one. My son was born in 1988, and they were so cool for Boy Scouts, bicycling, etc.
Hey, in Hawaii, might you be able to grab a late model used Chateau van, maybe even from a rental company? You're looking at probably 1/3 the price of the Expy and then you can buy another vehicle as a toy...
Just an idea....but I like the buyback thing. It will NEVER be as right as if it had just been a clean, new, intact vehicle.
We went and test "fit" some of those Flex...I was very surprised. They are smaller, but the way Ford layed 'em out, you have some decent space. It had more than the 08 Caravan I had to rent.
my wife also fell in love with the Flex Limited we initially looked at. as mentioned above, I too am 6'3" and I also seemed to wear the Flex.
so I'm hoping the buy back option goes through. I paid $40,000 for my Expy, and I can get the Flex for about $33-34,000 after TT&L.
The Flex is a very cool vehicle IMO; if they will do the buyback, I'd say this would be your best option--you can just wash your hands of the whole bad paint thing and start fresh. And even if you like the dark colors on the Flex, you can get one with a white or silver roof and keep it a bit cooler in the hot sun.
Have them wash the Flex you're considering and go over the paint with a fine tooth comb to make sure their weed whacker guys didn't give the paint the same treatment the Expy got....
