Oh man. What monkeys are running that asylum out there? You told them to not do anything, and they did it anyhow, and with no warranty authorizations of any kind? Horrible, horrible business practice. If I lived near you, I'd never buy a car from them.

So they paint it knowing Ford will not pay for it? How is that going to work? Are any of the dealer managers helping? I would try to find a higher up Ford rep to complain to. Have you called Ford directly and told them about this?

Not sure why Ford should have to foot the bill anyway. If the damage came from someone weed-eating the property, the dealership should have to pay for the respray.
I thought the paint was defective from the factory.
Sorry about the confusion. There are 2 seperate issues
1. Ford factory didn't paint all the panels 100%...litteraly every panel has bare metal spots
2. Dealership lot guys physically damaged the exterior paint somehow (weedeater?)
For problem #1, I have partial authorization from Ford Corp to get the bare metal spots corrected. But, they are fighting it, and the Dealership has had to call a Ford Rep from California to make an on the spot adjustment....when this will happen?
For problem #2, I've been repeatedly told my vehicle was going to be fixed on the exterior 100% to new condition. They just wanted to see what Ford Corp would cover under warranty first, then they'd cover the rest.
But yesterday, the Service Manager claimed he had never heard of this part, and was going to "Look into it" for me
And conveniently enough, every single "Manager" who has been dealing with me were all "Out Sick" or had taken the day off
So I'm essentially helpless and confused right now...hopefully the BBB Complaint packet arrives today. I'd like that to get formally filed on Monday

I understand. I would also call the number in your manual-yours is in the truck- 800-392-3673 and lodge a complaint there too. PM me for info on the BBB.

Some progress made. Rather than fly a Ford Rep from Cali, they just blanket authorized the Factory defects..finally
Not sure what happened, but now they are suddenly bending over backwards to help me. I'm actually being treated like an important customer with a valid complaint.
Service Manager said the exterior stuff is being honored...but they'll need it at least another week
So assuming they stick to the current timeline, I'll have my vehicle back Fri/Sat of next week...100% repaired
Glad to finally hear a little positive news in this situation...gotta be a bit of a relief for you, tylus. What really stinks is that you've been without your new truck for almost a month.

Was told to come down at 4:30...arrived at 4:00. Sat on the lot until 6:00 when my Expy finally rolled up
wanna guess what I found?
They wet sanded the exterior...in some places. But didn't fix a mother****ing thing. The only part that got painted was the huge area (quarter size) of paint missing on the grille, and the Factory Defects.
Nothing exterior fixed
and to boot, I'm missing more external trim pieces now, and they somehow lost a small trim piece on the rear hatch
Ford Corp and the Dealership Owner are getting a Certified Complaint mailed out tomorrow with supporting Documentation, Photo's, Video...I even have NAMES & Dates.
I tried to do the proper thing, and let the Dealership solve the issue locally. Guess I'm just too nice a guy
That totally sucks. I agree you are right to file a formal complaint with Ford Corporate for sure. I do hope you get some sort of positive resolution out of that route. I'm not sure how the lemon laws would apply here - I thought that was only mechanical issues?

According to Hawaii Lemon Law, they have 8 days left. I'm seriously tempted to pay the $50 fee and force a Buy Back
I wouldn’t even consider keeping it if it is possible. Not because it’s a bad vehicle but because I would always be worried about the paint. It would always be that thorn in my side that would be waiting to creep up on me. Even more importantly, stick it back to them and let the dealership figure out what to do with it.
Also, don’t let this bad experience lead you astray from Ford. You know the old saying, “1 bad apple will spoil the whole bunch.”

I would get ready to file the paperwork. It will be 30 days before this gets resolved. In the section where is asks how long they have had your car, you can now put 30, 31 or whatever.

That sux Tylus. Sad to hear that your dealer is "one of those". Things like this can almost always be solved at the dealer level if the dealership is responsive to their customers. I've worked for a few who were and I've worked for one that was "one of those". What a difference between them when it comes to customer issues.
Here's an idea. Take some white shoe polish and right "(Dealer's name) Lemon" on the rear windows and make sure you drive by the dealer once or twice a day. That will make em' think!
