The Dealer finally worked my Expy into the repair booth...I dropped it off on Tuesday the 19th.
Got a phone call today, they are saying it will be in the shop for about 2 weeks total. So went from a few days...to 2 weeks...WTF?
I am a huge Ford fan...but to be honest, I don't know if I'll buy another one NEW ever again. This is the 2nd BRAND NEW FORD I've bought in 3 yrs that has had an identical paint problem.
Especially with the rental game Ford is playing with me right now.
I bought a 7 Passenger Expedition EL...they are offering me a 4-5 passenger Ford Focus as a Rental vehicle...if I want something bigger, I have to pay the upgrade fee. Which is roughly $30+ each day.
And ontop of this, I am only "AUTHORIZED" for 1 week of rental. I had originally just decided to not get a rental at all...I can easily go a few days with just 1 car...but 2-weeks?
So I'm gonna pick up my rental on Tuesday next week
I swear, this has been the worst car buying experience I have ever had...I love my Fords...damn
What the hell am I supposed to do with a FOCUS? My kids carseats won't even fit in the backseat of one...
That sucks. I have an 08 and it has a few spots that are either really thin-near the hinges, door jams, etc or where it looks like a spec of metal was on the body when it got sprayed-looks like a pinpoint of missing paint.
I think the real answer is cost cutting. They are constantly cutting cost and quality is being affected. The plastic on the interior is some of the thinnest, most brittle stuff I have seen with the exception of Kia and Hyundai brand cars. I don't think these types of problems are going to go away anytime soon.
On a good note, I bet your respray will be of better quality than the OEM paint job. Will they warranty the paint for the same time period? I might push for a longer warranty.
how old is your Expy?
and how many miles?
if you have anything like I've shown, Ford will fix it no questions asked...even the areas with thin spots of paint...but especially the spots where some sort of contaminant is under the paint.
trick is, you have to be under the 12 months, 12,000 mile cut-off. after that, they say too bad.
oh yeah, and the respray is warrantied under the OEM Rust/Corrosion warranty. Considering I've only had it 1 month...not terribly worried about the term length. Just as long as they get a good coverage on it

I am...but I'm waiting until next week. Ford Corporate will only authorize 1 week...and only $30 per day
Period
So I'm going to pick it a rental Tuesday morning and just hope I get my Expy back before that Saturday.
They will cover the extra days in a rental car, you just have to call Ford Customer Svc. My truck was recently broke down while we were traveling (family of 6). They rented me a Nissan Pathfinder, so that we would have a seat for everyone. They also covered it for a total of 12 days. Push on them a bit. They will give.

by the rental thy owe you i meant a full size suv.
I dropped off my vehicle 2 weeks ago yesterday. I called on Monday to check on it.
Despite me putting good faith in the Dealership, they've completely broken me. I called today to see when I could pick her up.
Guess what?
Apparently, my Expy has been sitting on the ****ing lot for 2 weeks. They decided to "work" on it today.
Somehow, the authorization by Ford to do Warranty Work got denied. So it just sat.
I got story after story over the phone, and finally drove my happy ass down there. I finally nailed down the ****ing truth after I explained a few facts to the idiot PEONS and got somebody who was actually in charge.
1. It sat on a lot for 2 weeks
2. My phone call Monday was their "Oh ****, it hasn't been worked on" moment
3. They lied to me several times over the phone today, and played a game of "shuffle" by moving my Expy from lot to lot.
4. They successfully avoided me long enough for the repair shop to disassemble the entire interior, and 1 fender...so they can "paint it, and return by Friday"
Considering what they've done, I think I managed to keep my cool. The curse words at a bare minimum.
However, I still don't have my Expy, and there hasn't been a single repair made to it yet.
Supposedly, first thing in the morning, they are re-assembling it, and I will take delivery of my Expy at 1200....exactly as I left it 2+ weeks ago. We'll see.
I've already started the BBB Complaints, and I'm calling Ford Corporate first thing in the A.M.
I'm not sure what incompetant **** is in charge, but I"m about to become the biggest PITA he has ever experienced.
I'm just hoping the stupid *******s don't try and get sneaky and paint the vehicle...then say they can't return it to me since the paint is wet
Man, I am sorry to hear what you've got going on. That's almost a crime to be put through that with a brand new vehicle. Any reason why the warranty work got shot down or is that more smoke and mirrors?

Still dreaming about money...and waiting for the project$ to $pend it on...
Man Tylus that sucks, all of it. I would of lost my kool, with the fact it sat two weeks on the lot. MY 06 truck was on the lot like 4 or 5 months. Thats one thing i did was walk around looked for dings and scrathes on interior and exterior. Hope everthing is fixed to YOUR satisfaction not theres. One thing i learned when i had a fender bender with the taurus was apparently they removed the door to work on it, and got the whole freaking interior full of bondo dust(or what ever type of dust) Man was i pissed. I always keep my interiors clean and to find this pinkish shi? all over the dash and seats was pitiful. This was also at a dealer shop. Hope everthing turns out OK for you.
I would say that when you purchase a brand new vehicle, regardless of what it is, you expect it to be perfect both visually and mechanically. However, there will always be issues, one or two that we will live with. My wife and I had go in to a dealership when they were really busy and raised holy hell. We had most of the customers staring and listening to us. If you really want to make the “decision makers” squirm try that. To my surprise everything we complained about was handled. I even had to go back a year later for something else and when I walked thru the door I was greeted with “Mr.” and “Sir”. We have never gone back nor will we ever.
Making a spectacle out of yourself and them might work.
Good Luck and I hope you get everything worked out.

Not sure if/when I'll involve a lawyer...best we avoidthat discussion though as it is against FTE policy
The 4 doors and hood were authorized for repair. The rear hatch has foreign material on the exterior...Ford Corp denied that authorization saying they cannot see anything
So my question was why didn't anybody snap new pics during that 2 weeks while everything else was getting fixed?..and get the additional authorizations done?
Basically, I called at 1 PM yesterday. Was told they'd call me back.
Called again at 3 PM after hearing nothing. Said my Expy was there, but it wasn't ready. I told them to not touch it, and I was heading there immediately.
Got a call maybe 10 minutes later saying my Expy wasn't on the lot, and that the Paint shop had it dissassembled ready for paint.
WTF?
The Expy is supposed to be re-assembled today and waiting for me to pick up at 1200...it is 7:40 right now.
Looks like typical bad business practices by the shop. Bad 'could give a rats a**' attitude. I wouldn't give up on the areas they did not paint. I would push the dealership on those, take new pictures, whatever.

I specifically said "DO NOT PAINT MY VEHICLE" to the shop, and the Service Bay. Told them to re-assemble my vehicle and have it ready for delivery to me at 1200.
Got a call at 8 AM...and they were painting it. Said I might get it back by late tomorrow night (Friday)...I'm guessing I'll get it Monday instead. If they even bother working on it.
Now I'm also being told that they have no authorization to paint my vehicles Exterior. Basically sounds like they're trying to just stick me with it.
And wouldn't you know it, but all of the General Managers are "off" today and cannot be reached. I have a feeling I'm screwed. And they weren't even decent enough to give me lube
