Tell me if I am wrong, but I plan on goin to 4.10's wouldn't 4.56's make it a little hard on your transmission and engine when doing 70-80 mph I would think you would be turning a lot of rpm's on the interstate. Even if your running 35's which I plan on doing.

The deeper the gear set, the greater the mechanical advantage. This means that your engine and transmission actually do less work. Yes, you may run a little bit higher RPMs on the highway, but 35s are heavy.

You could always move out the 20"s for some 18" deals.
i may be missing something in what you said here, but how is changing from a 20"rim to an 18" going to help, the weight difference is not enough to make a huge difference to the gearing, now if i was to buy parts only how much are they? and is it in the xfer where i change out the front gears?

The gears are about 200 a set plus 100 for each installation kit so about 400-500 dollars.

agree with the guys above. If you are gonna fork over the money for new gears, go 4.56 or nothing IMO....maybe 4.30 for a 4x2 (can't find 4.30 for front axle for the 4x4)

usually the wieght is pretty similar from 18" to 20"

but there are some cases where the 17/18" rims are alot lighter than the 20" rims. Sometimes as much as 15-30 lbs per rim/tire combo...which is pretty significant in rolling mass when you add up all 4

idk that just seems awful low especially if you do a lot of highway driving like I do. Does anybody know what kind of rpm's your turning at 70-80 mph with 4.56 gears.
