Looking to buy an XLT Screw
I drove a pretty loaded Screw today. Dealership offered to locate a truck for me with a MSRP of $39,625. Salesman wouldn't break down the numbers for the discount, rebates etc. He offered to trade keys with me for $25,500 OTD.
He finally admitted that they valued my trade - a low mileage 2000 GMC Z71 reg. cab - at 6K (previous quotes for 7K+).
Tax here is at 6.5% and reg. fee is close to $500. Sound like an ok deal? Looking to have an all-Ford garage soon.

I would make him break down what the price is. From what I have read here and what I found is I got 19% off the sticker price including rebates. The average here seems to be 20% off the sticker price.
They also gave me blue book for my truck which was 3k higher then two other dealers were willing to do.
I was tired of the shopping process and we just wanted to get out of there but I thought there were 5 or 6k in rebates but I guess I only qualified for 4k of them.

You can go to KBB.com and see what trade-in value is for your Z-71 and see what the price is and rebates are for the truck that you are looking at. It (rebates) will vary by region. If it were me I would not deal with any dealer that didn't give me a full breakdown and disclosure of the deal. Even if it is on the up and up it gives me the impression that they are being deceptive. Just my opinion.

I believe Ford is still offereing Ford loyalty cash in certain areas for existing Ford owners. Those trading in anything else though very much appreaciated may not get the same consideration.
I'd make them break it down line by line and remind them that GM still builds trucks and still wants your business too.
BYW, welcome to FTE and good luck!
