Can someone help me? 77 issues

I have a 1977 F250 4x4, that i just bought
i bought the truck not running, so ive replaced a few parts, including most of the harness out of a running but rotten 78 f150
This week i was able to get the truck to turn over, but didnt get any spark,
so i brought my ignition module in for testing and it failed
Ordered a new one and installed it
now the truck wont even turn over

If anybody has any clues as to what it is...either leave a message on here
send me an email at bbkrus@hotmail.com

or if ure near the kitchener/waterloo area lemme know we can meet up
thanx
Mike

We need a little more input, is the battery fully charged and have you load tested it? will the starter work if you jump the starter solenoid?

Are there any fuses blown do you have 12 volts at the coil, do you have power at the ignition box?

Anyone in Kitchener that can help our friend here?

A bad ignition module would not stop it from turning over, something else is going on. Go back a step and confirm the starter circuits including the grounds are ok.

Are you sure they sold you the right ignition module?

As Frank said one should have nothing to do with the other, perhaps you have other wiring problems.

I suggest getting a Haynes manual and double checking your wiring.

Hmmm, the truck should crank over with NO ignition module in it. It won't start but it will crank. I didn't know anyone still was able to test these old modules? Maybe put the old one back and check the voltage on the ign coil with the key in the run position. It should be 7-9 volts.
It sounds like you may have a few things going on. Best to sort out the basics, see what does work as it should then move on to the rest.

Hmm, does the starter solenoid behave the same with the 2 little wires switched? I can't remember... One tells the solenoid to engage, doesn't the other go to the module and tell it to retard?

I have gone over the majority of my engine bay harness, fixed a few sketchy areas that im sure will give me grief in the near future,
havent tried firing it up yet, i do want to change my grounds, they look ok...but it's a 32 year old truck.
I have also replaced all the fuses, once again because the harness is old and who knows when they were last replaced!!

Yeah, you gotta love the old fuses. Every 3rd time (it seems) I drive my truck and I use the heater/defrost, I have to wiggle the heater fuse to get the fan to run.
