Do you think if enough people bothered SVT, we could eventually see a 6 speed manual Lightning? I would love this option as it would certainly cut the ET's of the truck with a harder launch.

It is a hardcore sport truck. Lets give them the ability to shift it like a real driving machine!

The problem is that they don't have a transmission that will fit the bill available to bolt up.
You can't use a superduty transmission that has bull-low in a sport truck, and I don't think that the tranny in the Mustang will handle the torque of the 5.4L Supercharged engine!

My opinion is that its not a real car/truck unless you have the ability to shift it yourself. LIKE A REAL MAN!

You just have much more control over the vehicle.
More vehicles should be manual, they make you concentrate on driving, and thats what your supposed to be doing when in a vehicle, DRIVING!

I personally would like to see a B&M shifter in it, as is used in the Cobra-R. A B&M Truck Megashifter would fit nicely, you'd have the same transmission, ease of driving an auto, as well as the response time of a standard. I think the shifter would rock in this truck.

My opinion is the shifter would be long and sloppy, it would take tooooo much movement. The shifter would have to be short.

now wait a minute, the cobra R is the 5.4 correct, and thats a 6 speed correct, i also thought i heard somewere that this is basicly the same tranny used in the viper?? that should be able to handle the power just fine and you know it bolts right up. as far as the shifter goes you should be able to have a little shorter stick i bet you sit lower in it then a stock 150 anyways right. it might be a bit of a strecth for shorty's like me buttt..... i have an 88 with the 5 speed and that stick coiuld be lowered some, if the gears were closer to each other then it wont be bad stretch for 6 and reverse or however it's setup..

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-Nov-01 AT 01:26 AM (EST)]Yes, that would work wouldn't it...I was unaware of the existence of the Cobra R at the time of my post. (I've since gotten a poster of it put up on my wall)

The Cobra R puts out similar power numbers to the Lightning doesn't it?
What is the holdup?
Swap it in FORD!

The problem is of course that it is still a truck that is capable of hauling a load, so simply dropping in the R tranny might not do the job. Wouldn't take to much work to adjust the ratios a bit though!
