Tonneau Cover Thoughts
Ok, so who has read about these or perhaps owns one or knows someone that does.
RETRAX truck bed cover
My vinyl tonneau is pretty well shot and a hard cover just seems so much more attractive with our weather up here (winter). Easy removal for bed use rather than breaking out the pliers to try and stretch the vinyl over the frame just seems like it would make my life so much easier. And before you say it, I know they are not the cheapest cover out there, but I believe that you get what you pay for. This 1 cover should last me the life of the truck.
Let's hear all of your 2 cents!

Now from a practical point of view.
I wonder how well it sheds ice for those few ice storms we get in Connecticut.
I suppose a vinyl tarp type cover would not have any issues with ice, but probably sags under a snow load.
I understand that the solid covers do add security over a rag top.
I recall that someone makes a tailgate handle relocation kit so no-one can just drop your tailgate to get under the solid cover.

a few good friends of mine always debate with me about how flatbeds are the only thing work putting on a truck.
to each his own.
as for the hard sliding cover - i know a few people that have and love them.

now my father in law would say "what good is a truck bed if you dont have a cap, everything gets wet and you cant lock it up". he keeps tools in the bed and hauls custom woodwork from the shop to jobs.

We want to put on dual rears and put on an aluminum flatbed. Then either a 5th wheel or gooseneck hitch.
It's got a Fisher plow mount, but no blade so we need to get a blade for it.
Then it'll be the towing/plowing rig.
Anyone have a need for a SRW service box? Red in color appears to be in good shape. Ladder rack on it.

I don't think I would want my smelly work boots in an Excursion. That's why tonneau covers are great.
