Yea, they don't look stout enough for my taste, so I figured I'd make some of my own. I have access to some huge pins and bushing and lots of machinery at work. Just wondering if the general idea works at all, and I would just copy it heavier (and most likely uglier). I would definitely make it with grease fitting and replaceable bushings (maybe brass).
I have also thought about a design that uses 3 sides of a u-joint with needle bearings.

The issue with revolver shackles is they allow the suspension to "unload". When they open up, the axle just droops down. There is no sprung weight to ground the unloaded side, so you would just be spinning a weightless tire. Another big issue is guys who run them(I have known a few jeepers and seen alot of rigs run these) go through driveshafts like it's nobody's buisness. The extreme droop causes the d/s spline shaft to drop right out. Now here is where it gets scary. If those reasons not to buy this product werent good enough, here is your BUYER BEWARE! When you are descending a steep grade those shackles will unload and in some cases where the operator did not install limiter straps, the vehicle will endo. Like I said, I have had a couple friends run them on their Jeeps for a while. They eventually tossed them and opted for boomerang style shackles. To me, it's just a product only meant to be over marketed. There is no benefits for any real wheeler. But if its a mall crawler that you are only worried about insane RTI scores over function, this product may be for you. I also saw a vid some time ago where this mall crawlin CJ with 44's and some breed of monster big block had revolvers in the front. When he got on the skinny from a stand still, they would open up and it looked kinda kewl. But a worthless product in my humble opinion.
