Old truck fix

Ah, I got a much needed old junk truck fix today. I found a parts truck on Craigslist, contacted the seller and made a deal. I wanted to pick it up yesterday when it was 75° and sunny but my better half kept finding things for me to do, and since she didn't give me too much heat about buying another "piece of junk", I thought I'd better appease her so I had to wait until this morning when it was 60° and raining. But hey, it was still a great day. I took my youngest son, Andy and picked up fellow board memeber, Craig, Dmptrkr, and headed south for the 1½, 90 mile drive. We found the owners house without having to drive around for an hour lost, that's a big plus, and met bunch of nice guys. The owner was a very younger man, about 20-25 years old. On the phone he sounded like a much older person but he and his two friends were the helpful guys, helping to load the truck on my trailer. The sellers father showed up with the title of the truck and I then knew where the seller got his personally. After we had the truck loaded and paid for we stood around for a while shooting the bull. It was a great day. In my 30 years of being in this hobby and meeting literally hundreds of people, I have only run into one real ****. There are a lot of really nice people out there.

Just thought I'd try to give you guys some sun shine on this gloomy day.

'49 F-2 flatbed. The Ford script bed is really nice. It has all but one of the side racks, the wood is pretty much rotted but it has all of the stock hardward, even most of hardware from the missing piece. The deck wood is pretty decent but still should be replaced for a nice looking truck. I have already made a deal with a fellow board member for it.

The cab is rough, but fixable. Flattie is junk, two of the cylinders have what look like freezing cracks, you can feel the walls coming in. The radiator looks real good, I need one from my panel really bad. I'll take it in and have it checked. The hood is like new so it's going on the F-4. Front fenders are OK, but need work.

The old truck just feeds my addiction.

Man, far from it! She and her family think old cars and trucks are the biggest waste of time and money, well, I guess they could be right. When I first mentioned that I saw this truck on Craigslist and wanted to buy it she started giving me a real hard time, as usual. Then a couple of days ago I mentioned it again and she started up again but this time I told her to knock it off (I really did!) and stop giving me a hard time. I don't drink, smoke and am home every night unless I have to work. I'm always around and if my worse vice is an occational old truck purchase she should be happy.

Who cares, I got another old truck!!!

Nice find, Bob!

I stopped buying parts trucks. Got tired of parting them out. It's a lot of work!

Now, instead, I started collecting/parting out old bicycles.

I did feed my Ford addiction today, though. Went to a small local Ford only swap meet and picked up a pair of F1 running boards to flip.

I find alot of times it comes down to negotiation..she has things for you to do,..you have things for her to do,..you both have things you both need to do,..you have your desires,..she has hers,..etc,etc.

Ok Dear, I'll get those gutters cleaned, cut the grass, get the kids to the ballgame and back, drop that stuff off at your sisters..then tommorrow , I'll try and slip by and pick that old truck...

As long as she isn't threatening you with life or limb, divorce, taking the kids, kicking you out in the street,..and you can still keep the priorities straight..life is good!
