Champion One piece plug. Just put them in and they run better then the motorcrap plug. I think you would be crazy to keep any plug for 100,000 miles. Pull them at 50,000 intervals.

Boy, that sure looks like a one-piece standard plug unlike what some other smart-a$$ know-it alls on this site would have you believe. Thanks for the info and the pic. I appreciate it.

So Flash, you are certain the Champion plugs are a one peice design?

Why don't you look carefully at this photo. In this you will notice a groove to the right of the threads. In this groove, you will also notice a bit of blue color. This Flash, is where Champion laser welded the 2 peices together. It appears to be a better design then that of Ford's plug, but it is in no way one peice.

wow what do you know about that

some people are like cattle, they need proding

others wont do research; and depend on others for info and still get it wrong

champions can also seperate

better off installing MotorCraft following the TSB

wow, this thread took a different turn

Unless you are running performance parts, just stick with OEM plugs. By performance parts...I mean a Blower or extensive internal motor mods.

Motorcraft stuff is very high quality that works. Champion seems to be hit or miss. Some like Ryan never have an issue. But I know others on other sites who have nothing but problems.

All I can say is I bought the Champions yesterday and they look and feel just like any other long shank spark plug Ive ever seen. I didnt see any crimps, or otherwise. Just a plain ol' spark plug. Perhaps they changed the design. It also looked like is was quality-made.

There are 2 different plug styles for the 5.4 3v now

04-08(early production)
08 and newer

the 04-08 has the 2-piece design

the 08+ is a traditional plug

The Champion Platinum 7989s I bought look just like the pics above. I assume they will work fine in my 04 5.4 correct?

Thanks,

Guys....respect each other...i don't care if you disagree...but don't be jerks...

And....the champion plugs ARE one piece....welded is one piece....try and take a welded plug apart....its not comin apart...

I don't know if champion has changed the plug from its initial design cause its been a long time since i've seen anyone thats had a problem with them, AND...they are double platinum plugs that champion says are good for 100K miles...
