Thanks for the warm welcome guys!! I am glad to be here! I am definitely in love w/ the classics-cars and trucks and diesels are my favs...but who am I kidding-as long as it is Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury I will probably like it! Yes, even a Pinto ( as long as it has a 460 in it! lol)! I actually used to turn wrenches as a Ford technician from 2000-2003 when Ford shut my dealership down. I worked at Melton Motor Co. in Lonoke, AR for those of you who live in Lonoke County! I have forgotten a lot of what I knew ( I was a Powerstroke specialist), but if you have a question, I will sure TRY (no promises) to help you! Thanks for such a great welcome and its good to be here!
lol, that was me! I love the Powerstrokes...from my experiences the best ones were the '98-'02 models. I changed out many a v/c gaskets and injectors in the beasts. I saw many farm trucks (where farmers believe that "routine" oil changes are 10,000 mi +) w/ them and I am not convinced that they make a good farm truck for someone who will not take care of them. They have a lot of power and I just wish that Ford would have turned them up like International did (600 ft/lbs of torque) to run in their medium duty trucks ( International T-444e = Ford Powerstroke). The best light duty diesels on the market are the Powerstroke and the "B" series Cummins. I haven't figured out why Chevy hasn't gotten out of the diesel market cause they have been looking for a diesel for 20+ yrs and have yet to find one! They need to stick to the Z71's and leave the pulling to Ford and Dodge! lol
I'd kill myself if I only had 600 ft/lbs of torque.
