I took some pics of the Bronco and some of the underside by the back of motor where it is leaking oil. Any input is good.

 

Hard to be certain from the photos but if there is no evidence of the leak being higher on the engine, you could be dealing with a rear main seal issue or oil pan gasket. You would need to have a look up higher on the back of the engine. Start by checking the seams between the valve covers and the heads, the heads and the block, and the lower intake manifold. If the surfaces are dry down to the point where the transmission bell housing meets the engine, you are dealing with either a real main seal or oil pan gasket failure. The oil pan gasket is the most likely culprit in this case.

One side note: You may want to get a replacement inspection plug for the bottom of the transmission bell housing. The torque converter is just above that open hole there in the last two photos. While it is unlikely that anything but dirt and road grim will get up in there, rocks or sharp objects can be a killer for the relatively thin-skinned torque converter just inside that opening.

 

The whole top of the Transmission is wet from oil and I replaced and checked the lower,upper intake, and valve cover gaskets. I have a feeling the oil is coming from the back of the head gasket. I'm happy with the body on the Bronco but I have a lot of work to do with the mechanical. Where could I find a new inspection plug? I'll check the local auto parts store and see If I can find it there. Thanks for the help.

 

Any Ford equipped with an E4OD transmission from 89 on should have the inspection plug. May be able to find one in the HELP! section of the parts store too.

 

no no its probley not the head gaskets im a ase master for 10 years now and never seen a head gasket leak oil is the oil sending unit back there behind intake also u have to use a good amount of rtv on the front and rear intake seal even if it comes with a rubber gasket put rtv on the corners where the block meets the heads under and over the gasket also cork valve cover gaskets suck get some good rubber ones also looking at the leak it is more to the right side rear seal would be leaking in center

I just tore down and found an oil leak on the back of the intake seems its a regular problem with broncos and the stain looks the same exept mine was MAJOR waiting for rtv to dry now hope it works out give us updates

Yeah, That's what sold me on this Bronco. No rust at all! I pulled the panel off the tailgate, door frame, and checked all under the wheel wells. I only paid 3,500 for it and as for the oil leak it seams to be getting better because I have been driving it everyday.Yes, I have been checking the oil level! (It just needed some attention!) I changed the lower intake gaskets and did not use the cork gaskets. Just black RTV where they went. I fixed the air and the dimmer switch in it and now it blows ice cold air. I think i got a good deal.
