Carb rebuild

I have a 1976 F150 with a 390 and a 4 barrel Holley carb.

I wanna rebuild it, but how do I figure out which rebuild kit I need?

Or should I take this to the "fuel injection/carb" section....?

Welcome to the site. There's lots of great information here. I also have a 1976 F150 with the 390. However, I've got a Carter AFB (which is about to get replaced). I don't know much about the Holleys. There should be a model number on it (probably on the front...possibly on the left side). If not, I'm sure someone will correct me shortly. Good luck!

There should be a tag on the carb with an I'd number on it. Most parts stores can break that # down and tell you what model Holley you have (4160, 4180 etc. They can also get you the right kit off that #.

With Holley's I believe the number is on the air horn.
Don't worry, the kit will cover a bunch of models anyway. ;)

The tag on my carb reads: "D5 TE EA" on the top line, and the second says "6A 5"

Look at the thread in the Fuel forum. Please do not cross-post.

D5TE-EA = 1975/76 F150/F350, 390 V8 4v with automatic transmission, non-Calif emissions. From serial # W00001.

6A5 = assembled January 5, 1976.

Cool, didn't know you could look that information up. :)
Where'd you get that info from? :)

------------------

Anyway, that's not what the OP needs at the typical parts store ;) need the
"Holley model number". They tend to be on the air horn on the "Ford style"
carburetors, IME.

The parts catalog. Everything's in there.

Agreed. The carburetor in question is a Holley 4150.

Holley, Carburetor Rebuild Kits - summitracing.com

Which rebuild kit should I buy? Which do you recommend?

Or does it all depend on how much I wanna spend? Should I got all out and get the $95 one? Or just get $41 kit?

Help!

As you have been told, many times between the two threads...take your tag numbers to Napa (or a similarly reputable parts house) and have the tag cross-referenced to the appropriate rebuild kit.
