Shell Gas

I've been using Shell gas ever since i have had my truck. Bought it new back on Jan. 16, 2006. The best i have gotten on MPG is around 17.6mpg. Since Shell came out with this new gas, i have notice my AMPG on my Edge EVO, go up to 18.1+. Has anyone else notice this?

For the price Shell charges for gas, you should get around 30mpg.

I'm only paying 2.19 a gallon for 93 octane.

I run Shell, but I run 87. Shell is right around the same as all other brands around me, except Sunoco which is outrageously high. I generally go to the same Shell station every fill up. 1 mile down the road is a sunoco that is always at least 10 cents/gallon higher.

When it is Shell, Mobil, BP and Getty all within 1-2 cents of each other. I opt for Shell.

I haven't noted any increase in mileage with the new version of Shell, but haven't had a good bunch of summer gas through my van yet.

Shell is a "Tier 1" gas which means it has higher detergents than most other brands. I'll use it whenever I can if it's priced in the same range as the other brands, and it usually is.

The Shell station I go to is usually the cheapest price in town. I haven't noticed any increase. Maybe they switched over to the summer blend and that is why it increased.

Does the shell out your areas have it nitrogen infused? maybe that could be a factor... I always run shell or exxon 89oct in my truck and always average 17.2 in the city...as per the my EVO readout

I have noticed a little bump in mpgs, but I figured it was just my truck breaking in.

I ONLY run Shell or Amoco. A mechanic friend of mine recommends Shell, and my gearhead uncle only runs BP/Amoco in his rebuilt '69 Cuda.
For some reason, I get noticeably worse fuel economy with Farm Fresh or any "off" brands. BJ's isn't bad, though...

My owner's manuals state that I should ONLY run 87 octane.

BTW - I heard that Sunoco is one of the very few all-American oil/gas companies.

My 04 runs best of Kwik Fill and second choice is Hess. Sunoco is terrible, I'll loose 2MPG when running on it. Mobile is overpriced and doesn't do any better than Sunoco.

Hess seems to be good. I have used that.
Around here, we have gas stations like Raceway, Racecoast, East Coast, Wawa, and Petrol, and we have no idea what kind of gas it really is....

Shell up here in CO averages 20 cents a gallon more than any other competitor. We don't have Chevron up here which really sucks.

I worked at a gas station for a little bit when I was younger. You'll be surprised that a lot of the "no name" stations use the same gas but charge different amounts. Watch and see who actually delivers the fuel. Most of the time it's a delivery company.

Yep, "Eagle" trucks are everywhere, but the additives from Shell, BP, etc. are added during the delivery....
