Erratic speedo and engine misses

I have a '95 250, 460, 4wd with 75,000 miles and have been getting 13 mpg so it's been running well until this AM when I started up and had it die on me several times before getting out the drive. Then on the highway the speedo needle was jumping around. 20 miles later in town it kept dying at stoplights. On the way back home I passed another car at about 70 and then the engine missed and jerked a couple of times but never completely failed. Any ideas about the cause? Thanks.

What transmission is it? Are you sure it is not a transmission problem rather that the engine?

The wires look OK and the only code I got was 332 "insufficient ERG flow".
I should add that the truck has a 5 speed manual transmission.

Continuous Memory DTC 332 indicates the EGR valve did not open with the engine stabilized and the EVR solenoid duty cycle present sometime during vehicle operation.

Sounds like you have a vacuum problem, maybe a hose off?

Hoses appear to be OK.

Did you do a EOER self-test to test the solenoids?
The KOEO self-test is just a hard code test (electrical test) of the the sensors and relays.
I take it the 332 was from the CM as you did not say.

Key On Engine Run self-test.

How did you get the 332 code?

To read your codes or check for other types of codes and to run the self test go to one of these links below:

This is good for the KOEO test:
Ford Fuel Injection How To Run a Self-Test

This one is good for the KOER test:
Ford Fuel Injection KOER Test
OR
Ford Computer Codes

Or get a code reader, here is a good one.

Sounds like you have some bad vacuum hoses.
However I do not think these code would cause your problems.

The speedometer problem may me caused by the VSS sensor on the rear end or a bad PSOM. Is your ABS light on?

I was hoping to see a TP or PIP sensor code but did not see one. Maybe the spark plugs were failing, you could test them if you knew some one with a tester. The tester puts them under pressure to at what pressure they failed at. The ones that fail at low pressure you get rid of.
Other than that I have no idea why the engine is acting that way.
