Hey Guys,
I need some help with these Script Beds. The question I have is in the picture. Why is there two different kind of horns on the back of the stake/flat bed? Circled in Red!
and what kind of bumpers? lights? etc...?

 

It appears the stringer is not installed on the curb side. The bed must be blocked up, supported another way. Single lights were outboard of the steel frame on trucks before turn signals. None on the bed.
Another old thread brought back to life. Still interesting.

 

That bed is for the smaller trucks. The different sized pieces are for allowing the spare tire to be stored under the bed. I think I have pictures on one of my computers of an original bed I had a few years back.

 

Is this a picture from the manufacturer? I think it is. Perhaps this is a prototype. I think the finished product sold to customers will have horns that match.

The picture of the new flatbed used to be on Northern Classic Trucks web site when they reproduced and sold Ford flat beds year ago.

So that is how it attached...I had one of those when i sold parts at the Carlisle Truck Show.
I knew in it was a spare tire holder for a flatbed but was not sure how it attached. I sold it years ago and hopefully the buyer knew how to use it.

I would like to have that for my F-1 stake bed, if you can get it. I have never had one.

On my 48 F1 stake
the back mounts are the same size
spare tire a center back mount
I added a second tail light

This stakebed is 7' long. (which is all wrong from what we have been told and by what is listed in the salesmans handbook) supposed to 6.5' or 7.5' long right??
and does not appear to have been modified too much? the side boards don't look like originals look and the stakes are metal. (however the wood looks old enough to be original?)

Notice the sheet metal mud flaps with support brackets. anyone seen those before? original ford? dealer add on or farmer edition?

Almost hate to part this thing out, maybe better left together as a unit?

They are listing it with roughly 30,000 miles on the odometer but it has an F1 speedometer, so the mileage is not correct. Decent looking truck though. Would be a very good start for build.
