List your location in the upper right corner of your post. You'd have a better chance of finding some one in your area that might be interested, most people aren't going to pay to have somthing this size shipped cross country.

I have an 8' original bed for my '53 F-250. I need some help gathering the following information to restore the flatbed. Any help is appreciated.
1. The perimeter of the bed is in rough shape; the metal that covers the stake pockets. Does anyone make replica pieces / shapes for these beds? the covers for the frame supports on the rear are also shot.
2. What type of wood is used for the frame rail supports? Maple, Oak, Ash???
3. Does anyone have the type of wood used for the stakes and a template for the wood stakes?

I have a 8' ford script flatbed (2 of them actually) I need more information on what type of wood was used for the stake sides, and I would like to find out how to get a template of the size of the uprights, etc. Can anyone help?

 

The larger flatbeds had steel stakes (9'+) and the smaller ones had wood.



Ford had it's own Forests so my guess is there was not a standard type of wood used, though it would have been a hardwood like the oak that you see used on most trucks.

I'm curious if your 8' stakebed is really 8' long or is it 7.5' ??? I thought they came in 6.5', 7.5' 9' and 12' lengths

it appears the 6.5' ones only have 3 side rail stake pockets, where the 7.5' ones have 4 with the two in the middle being closer together?

here is a picture of what I hope is a 7.5' or 8' ? one I'm hoping to purchase if it does not slip away? However I have not seen it in person nor have I confirmed that it has a ford Script on the back. Any takers want to place bets on whether its a script on the back or not?

Hi,fairly new here-just picked up a 50 f1 stake bed (one owner) been sitting 40 years,in the process of re-doing to original-flathead 8rt.3 speed floor shift--my question is ,can you get the wood uprights and the 2 rear caps that are riveted to metal bed and covers the end of the wood frame boards?

 

As far as I know you can't get any parts of for the original flatbeds unless it's a generic part you can pick up a hardware store or trailer parts dealer. Northern Classic trucks used to sell the complete bed. I asked about buying just the rear beam and they told me that their license with Ford didn't allow them to sell individual parts. Because of low demand they stopped making the flatbeds. You should be able to find a sheet metal shop that can bend up the pieces you need if they're aren't too complicated.

I have an 8' bed which is 95-1/2" overall from the front pocket to the rear. The actual bed is about 93-1/2". I just sold off my parts truck with the other original 8' flatbed to Newville Auto Salvage in Edgerton Wi., if anyone is looking for a flatbed for parts or the rear script plate. The bed is a little rusty, but its usable. Also I found the original beams for the flatbed which were actually Doug Fir. I made exact replicas out of Doug fir to match the original dimensions

 

The guy called me back, its about 93" long and does have "FORD" on the back in block letters so I assume its probably the original bed for that truck.
