I will be driving from Vancouver to the Okanagan later this month. If I could do it all off road I would, can anyone share some unpaved roads that ultimately lead me to Kelowna?
Thanks in advance.
John

Actualy thats a very good question. I dont think that the Whiopsaw trail takes you up to Kelowna.. I could be wrong though I know that it does take yiou up to the old toll boths for The Coq.
Where abouts are you from??
Wow.. So you've been all over then eh?? Thats cool. Ive got an older Back roads map book around somewhere. Ill look for it and let you know for sure of how to get there. Or if you can take a back road there.
It sure would be a good trip for a 4x4. When abouts are you thinking of doing this??
Look on the HOT4x4.ca site in on of there articles there is a story of them coming back via *something* mine and that is a nice off road ish drive up to the Okanogan .

There is sort of a back way from Princeton. I think it comes out around Peachland. By no means a logging road, more of an alternate route I guess. It may be Summerland Road.

When? I'll probably leave Vancouver the afternoon of the 24th. Stay around Hope Friday night. Get an early start Saturday morning and make an exploration day out of the drive to Kelowna. Something like that.

I looked at the info for Whipsaw Trail. It's kind of a loop. It has a lot of recognition as a first class trail.
I like the idea of Princeton to Peachland. Yes, I see Princeton/Summerland Road. Also Bathville Road. Looking at Google Earth, that area of land is fully engaged in logging and has logging roads all over it. I can see there is several paths to take.

Sometime when I go to Kelowna I will take the Summerland Road. If you decide to take that route let me know. You will travel almost past my front door, I can see the highway from my house. We could have coffee or something if you're interested.

Depending on the road, you may still run into some snow. So that might be something to think about. Also for a lot of the roads they have the mandatory frequencies, so a radio is recommended. Im sure you were probably aware of both, but a friendly reminder can't hurt.

not something i'd take a 4X4 Van on.. unless ur feeling brave..
least back when i used to do it, there were alot of serious rockcrawl hills.. but my memory might be foggy now...
Thanks for the tip, I'm not leaning toward Whipsaw.
I'm not out to risk my ride home, but from what I've read about Whipsaw the van would do ok. A Dana 60 in front, 410 gears, 271 Transfer case, V10, 5R110 transmission really makes these things capable and a lot of fun.

I looked at HOT4x4.ca. Great pictures of some difficult spots.
I see what you mean Fordfanatic4life. Not something you want to do alone.
